How to avoid P2P scams

The habits that stop nearly every common P2P scam.

Safety · 5 min read

Most P2P scams rely on pressure. Someone tries to rush you, or to pull you outside the rules. A few habits stop nearly all of them.

If you're selling

  • Check your own bank balance. Never rely on a screenshot or an email.
  • Make sure the sender's name matches the buyer's verified name.
  • Don't release early, however urgent the buyer says it is.

If you're buying

  • Only send money to the details shown inside the order.
  • Don't mark as paid until the money has actually left your account.
  • Refuse any request to change the amount or the account in chat.

Always

Keep every conversation in the order chat. If a trader asks you to move elsewhere, decline and report them. Moderators can't protect a deal they can't see.
